Community Service
I worked at Fowler High school and worked specifically for Mrs.Guzman. To serve their
community they provide a place where children are able to be educated in many different aspects
from academics to musical experiences and much more. They provide their services from
approximately 7:50 - 4:00. They services are provided at Fowler Hs on 227 Magnolia st. Their
services are much needed, without them many of these young adults would not get the education they
need due to the other high schools being overcrowded.
Fowler High School recognizes that each student is an individual; that all students are creative;
that all students need to succeed. Therefore, Fowler High School respects the individual needs of
students; fosters a caring and creative environment; and emphasizes the social, emotional, physical,
intellectual development of each student.
The several tasks I had to do were. make an excel spread sheet of students names and then make
new files for them and put them in alphabetical order. After putting them in alphabetical order I had
to put the updated folders in the filing cabinets with the rest of the students information. One of the
days I organized Mr.Clappin's paperwork, swept his classroom, and wiped down the tables.
Although I did enjoy helping Mrs.Guzman, one of the biggest things I got out of this experience
is knowing that I never want to be a secretary. It wasn't too bad but it's a lot of work and it's kind of
boring.I had a positive experience with my community service, I was able to create a friendship with
Mrs.Guzman and learn a few new things while I was helping her. I feel like I made a difference
because I got the task I was given done and helped the school function better.
Community service has a great impact on our society for many reasons. It keeps people out of
trouble and it helps people realize how our local community works. I wouldn't recommend the
community service I did to someone who likes to engage with other people but for someone who
works well independently.
